Grout Color Chart: Every Color We Color Seal To

81 documented Polyblend and Mapei grout colors, filterable by brand and tone. This is the same library our technicians carry into Chandler, Gilbert, Mesa and Paradise Valley homes, and every color on it is applied as a bonded pigmented sealer covered by our 15-Year Warranty.

    Quick Answer

What grout colors can grout be changed to?

Grout can be color sealed to any of the 81 Polyblend and Mapei colors on this chart, from Bright White through Midnight Black, including beiges, grays, browns and warm terra cotta tones. The pigment is opaque, so grout can go lighter as well as darker, and the final color is confirmed on site with a physical swatch.

Filter by manufacturer or tone family to narrow the field, then note two or three codes to compare against your tile in person. Screens shift color, so treat these swatches as a shortlist tool rather than a final match.

The Most Popular Grout Colors in Arizona Homes

Across thousands of Chandler, Gilbert, Mesa, Tempe and Paradise Valley floors, the same handful of grout colors do most of the work. These are the codes our technicians reach for first, and each one is applied through our grout color sealing process rather than a surface paint.

Most requested grout colors in Arizona homes and where each one performs best
Grout color Best used on Why it holds up here
Bright White / Alabaster Kitchen backsplash, guest bath walls, white subway tile Highest contrast reset for yellowed builder grout. Best on walls rather than traffic lanes.
Bone / Linen / Antique White Travertine-look porcelain, cream 18x18 floors Reads clean without glowing. Hides desert dust between quarterly visits.
Delorean Gray / Oyster Gray Large-format porcelain, modern gray plank Neutral mid-tone that survives hard water film and shoe traffic in entryways.
Pearl Gray / Silver Shower pans, mosaic floors, hex tile Mid-tone shower workhorse against 16 to 20 gpg Arizona water.
Driftwood / Bleached Wood / Fawn Wood-look plank tile in living areas and hallways Matches plank mid-tone so the floor reads continuous, not striped.
Chocolate / Espresso Saltillo, terra cotta, dark travertine Deep pigment that permanently hides set-in mop staining.
Midnight Black / Charcoal Patterned floors, industrial and modern kitchens Frames each tile and never shows the dust line at the joint edge.

Choosing Grout Colors by Tile Type

    Wood-look plank porcelain

Pull the mid-tone of the plank and ignore the darkest grain. Driftwood, Bleached Wood, Urban Putty and Fawn keep long runs reading as one continuous floor. Pair the color seal with a full clean and repair pass first, since plank joints are narrow and show any residual staining instantly.

    tile and grout cleaning

    Travertine and travertine-look tile

Bone, Linen, Sandstone and Nutmeg sit inside the natural range of Arizona travertine. On real stone we hone or polish the surface before any joint work, because the finish on the stone changes how the grout color reads.

    travertine restoration

    Shower walls, pans and mosaics

Keep showers mid to dark: Pearl Gray, Oyster Gray, Bone and Silver hold their look against hard water and body oil far longer than Bright White. Caulk joints are replaced, not color sealed, so soft joints are matched to the chosen grout color by hand.

    shower restoration

    Large-format and polished porcelain

Thin 1/8 inch joints magnify contrast, so a single step off your tile's mid-tone is usually enough. Delorean Gray and Frost read correctly next to most gray large-format porcelain installed in East Valley builds after 2014.

Grout Colorant vs Grout Paint vs Clear Grout Sealant

Comparison of grout paint, clear grout sealant and professional bonded grout color sealing
Option How it behaves Realistic lifespan in Arizona Warranty
Big-box grout paint / pen Sits on the surface as a film. Mops and shower spray lift it at the tile edge first, so failure looks like flaking outlines. 3 to 12 months None
Clear penetrating sealant Slows absorption but adds no color, so grout that is already permanently stained stays stained. Wears off in traffic lanes first. 1 to 3 years Typically none
Lazona bonded color sealing Pigment and sealer in one bonded membrane that becomes the joint surface. Uniform color plus stain resistance, applied after repair and deep cleaning. 15 years, documented 15-Year Warranty

This is the shirt problem. Wash a shirt with a set-in stain and it comes out clean, but it is still stained. Grout behaves the same way once pigment has been driven into the pores by years of mop water: the only way back to uniform color is to change the color of the joint itself. That is what a grout colorant does, and it is why the chart above exists in the first place. See the full method on our grout color sealing page, or check current pricing.

How to Choose a Grout Color That Still Looks Right in Five Years

Match the mid-tone, not the extreme

Pick the color that sits in the middle of your tile's range. Matching the darkest vein or the lightest fleck is what makes a finished floor read striped once every joint in the room is the same shade.

Go one step darker in traffic lanes

Entryways, kitchen runs and hallway spines carry desert dust year round. One step down from your ideal shade keeps the floor looking freshly sealed between our quarterly maintenance visits.

    Keep showers mid to dark

Bright White reads beautifully on a shower wall and shows every trace of hard water and body oil. Bone, Linen, Oyster Gray and Pearl Gray hold their look far longer against 16 to 20 gpg Arizona water.

    Decide contrast on purpose

Low contrast makes a floor read as one continuous surface and makes rooms feel larger. High contrast frames each tile and suits patterned, hex and basketweave layouts. Neither is wrong, but drifting into it by accident usually is.

    Grout Color Chart Questions

No. Grout paint sits on top of the joint as a film and starts peeling at the tile edge within a season or two, especially in an Arizona shower. The colors on this chart are applied as a bonded pigmented sealer that penetrates and seals the joint at the same time, which is why our grout color sealing carries a 15-Year Warranty and grout paint carries none.

Both. Going darker is the easiest change and hides the widest range of permanent staining. Going lighter is also possible because the pigment is opaque, not a tint, so a Delorean Gray joint can be brought back to Bright White. We confirm the final color on site with a physical swatch before we mix anything.

Pull the mid-tone of the plank, not the darkest grain line. Driftwood, Bleached Wood, Urban Putty and Fawn read correctly next to most Arizona wood-look porcelain. Matching the darkest grain makes the floor look striped once the whole room is done.

Yes. We color seal to the full Polyblend (Custom Building Products) and Mapei Keracolor / Ultracolor Plus FA libraries, so if your builder documented the original grout code we can match it exactly, or deliberately move away from it if you want a different look.

Permanent grout restoration with color sealing starts at $2.50 per square foot with a $750 minimum, and grout and tile repair starts at $500. Color selection from this chart is included, along with physical swatch confirmation on site.

The hex values on this page are close industry references for on-screen preview, and every screen renders color differently. The applied color is confirmed on site with a physical swatch against your tile in your own lighting before any product is mixed.

We color seal to 81 documented Polyblend and Mapei colors across whites, beiges, grays, browns, blacks and warm and cool tones, plus custom blends when a discontinued builder color needs to be recreated.
