Professional Travertine Cleaning and Sealing in Arizona
Travertine floors are a signature of Arizona homes, beautiful, timeless, and luxurious. But without proper care, travertine becomes dull, etched, stained, and scratched.
At Lazona Tile Care, we specialize in travertine restoration. Our IICRC-certified technicians have 20+ years of experience cleaning, sealing, honing, and polishing travertine throughout the East Valley.
Common Travertine Problems
Dull, Hazy Appearance
Travertine loses its luster over time due to foot traffic, improper cleaning, and wear. The once-beautiful surface becomes flat and lifeless.
Etching
Acidic substances like orange juice, wine, vinegar, even some cleaning products cause chemical reactions that etch the surface, leaving dull spots and marks.
Staining
Unsealed or poorly sealed travertine absorbs liquids, creating permanent stains. Coffee, wine, oil, and even water can cause discoloration.
Scratches and Wear Patterns
High-traffic areas develop visible scratches and wear patterns, especially in entryways, kitchens, and hallways.
Dirty Holes and Pits
The natural holes in travertine collect dirt and debris that regular cleaning cannot reach. This makes floors look dirty even after mopping.
Failed Topical Sealer
Some contractors apply topical sealers that peel, scratch, and trap dirt. These must be stripped before proper restoration.
Our Travertine Services
Travertine Cleaning
Starting at $0.50/sq ft
Deep cleaning using truck-mounted equipment removes embedded dirt, old sealers, and residue from the stone surface and pores.
Travertine Sealing
$0.25/sq ft standalone
After cleaning, we apply a penetrating impregnator sealer that absorbs into the stone to protect against staining without changing the appearance.
Travertine Honing
Starting at $2.00/sq ft
Honing removes the top layer of damaged travertine using diamond abrasive pads. This eliminates etching, scratches, and wear patterns.
Travertine Polishing

Polishing follows honing and uses progressively finer diamond pads plus polishing compounds to create a glossy, reflective finish.
Full Restoration
Starting at $4.50/sq ft
Our complete restoration package includes deep cleaning, honing (400-3000 grit progression), polishing, and sealing.
The Travertine Restoration Process
Inspection
We assess your travertine's condition, identify the type of finish, and determine the best restoration approach.
Preparation
Furniture is moved, surrounding areas are protected, and non-stone surfaces are masked off.
Stripping
If your travertine has a failed topical sealer, we strip it completely before proceeding.
Deep Cleaning
Professional cleaning removes all surface and embedded dirt. For heavily soiled floors, we use alkaline cleaning solutions followed by extraction.
Honing
Starting with coarse diamond pads and progressing to finer grits, we remove damage and create a smooth surface.
Polishing
For a glossy finish, we continue with 3000 grit pads and polishing compounds. This creates shine naturally without coatings.
Neutralizing and Drying
The floor is neutralized to proper pH and thoroughly dried before sealing.
Sealing
A penetrating impregnator sealer is applied and allowed to absorb fully into the stone, then buffed.
