Hard water stains on Arizona shower tile are calcium carbonate scale, and removing them safely depends entirely on the surface. On ceramic and porcelain tile and on glass, a mild acidic descaler dissolves the deposit. On travertine, marble, limestone or any natural stone, that same acid dissolves the stone itself and leaves permanent etching. Vinegar is the single most common cause of ruined travertine showers in Arizona. It removes the scale and dissolves the calcium in the stone at the same time. The dull white patch left behind is not a stain, it is a physically etched surface that only diamond honing can repair.

  • Repeat two mild passes instead of one long aggressive one, which protects grout joints and caulk

On cement grout that final step is a pigmented color seal so the joint has no open pore left to absorb minerals. When the Stain Is Not Hard Water
